Lisa Zahner is all about San Francisco neighborhoods and developing active
ground-floor use and busy neighborhoods. She is expert in attracting trendsetting retailers and other businesses to vacant storefronts. Prior to joining Urban Group, Lisa worked in economic development for the City of San Francisco, and led a small business development incubator.
In that role, she led the redevelopment of several depressed commercial corridors, filled 14 vacant storefronts within a 6-block stretch, increasing sales tax revenue by over 250%, establishing one of the hottest retail, restaurant and entertainment districts in San Francisco.
She is well-versed in zoning and permitted uses of ground floor commercial
space, as well as building code and new developments in city planning. She
is expert in lease negotiations, to benefit both landlord and tenant, for longterm positive outcomes. Lisa has consulted with local developers to create a long-term retail and business attraction strategy, including Treasure Island and the SF Giant’s Mission Rock development. She has deep relationships with local elected government officials and with members of the San Francisco Planning Commission.
She is a member of the SF Council of District Merchant Associations, a Board member (and past President) of the Alamo Square Neighborhood Association, and Boardmember of the San Francisco Housing Advocacy Coalition.
